Shevchenko Starts His New Life after Retirement
The 35-year-old best striker in Ukraine history Andriy Shevchenko declared he is entering politics with the end of football career on Friday. "This will probably shock everyone," he said. "My future will no longer be in football. I will give more information tomorrow, but I will be going into politics."
Andriy Shevchenko scored 48 international goals in his 111 appearances on behalf of national team. In Euro 2012 this summer he scored twice in a group match played in Kyiv helping turned the tables while against Sweden. But those were the last two goals for national team.
His final appearance for Ukraine was in UEFA Euro that Ukraine 0-1 England in Donetsk ending 17 years' Ukraine career.
As a most outstanding European striker in a decade, Shevchenko started his football career in Dynamo Kiev. It was the in 1998/99 UEFA Champions League that he and Serhiy Rebrov assisted the team getting access to the semi-final and he won the top scorer at that time.
In 1999 he just completed a big-money move to AC Milan and then he played 127 League games and helped winning Scudetto one time. That was His winning penalty in the 2003 UEFA Champions League final assisted defeating Juventus at Old Trafford.
In 2004 Andriy Shevchenko gained Ballon d'Or, transferring from AC Milan to Chelsea FC with €45m fees two years later. He was loaned to the Rossoneri in 2008/09 and in that following summer went to Dynamo.
