In 120 minutes Italy finished more than 36 shoot at the goal and two of them hit the goalpost. They lost too many opportunities which resulted in England successfully extending the game to shoot-out. Three Lions obviously had done many works before the game when realizing penalty is a big weakness of Italy. However, they seemed to know enemy much better than themselves. Their later performance was unendurable actually and finally lost 2: 4 to Italy in penalty.

In order to score the winning penalty in the shoot-out, Alessandro Diamanti compared England's presentation with Chelsea who won the championship even facing the close defensive Barcelona and Bayern in UEFA Champions League:

England tried to intimate Chelsea but they gained failure finally. We knew they would sit a bit deeper and threatened our goal with counterattacks, but we still played according to our comfortable style.

What most important was to win the game by retaining possession and playing own style. We should have won in 120 minutes unless not too much time and chances were wasted. Fortunately we finished victory as we wish through such an exciting shoot-out.

Subsequently, Alessandro Diamanti disclosed that Cesare Prandelli told him to play where he likes when he substituted in the 78th minute.

This former West Ham player prospected the confrontation between the blues and Germany in the Euro Semi-final and said, Germany is a first-class team, comprising of some top players. But we will win because Italy are born for victory and we fear nobody.

The game between Italy and Germany is to be started on June 27 in Warsaw.
