Vicente del Bosque's squad took a step forward to their European title defense after comfortable victory to Ireland. Consequently Republic of Ireland suffered two losses in succession and exited from Euro this year.

In the opening match against Italy, Spain just got 1 point in this draw. And they had overwhelming superiority in Gdansk, winning 15 times in recent 16 games. And in this game, Fernando Torres scored in goal in each half; and David Silva and Cesc Fàbregas struck a ball into opponent's net.

Compared with last match, both teams just made one change to their opening lineup, and the two players were immediately shown their power in Gdansk in the rain.
